The domestically manufactured Soumar cruise missile was unveiled and, along with the long-range Qadr and Qiam ballistic missiles, was delivered to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force during a ceremony on Sunday in Tehran.
Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan and Lieutenant General Amirali Hajizadeh, commander of the IRGC aerospace division, attended the ceremony.
“The Soumar cruise missile, which has been designed and made using modern and sophisticated technologies, is considered a big stride in increasing the defense capabilities and deterrence power of the country,” Fars news agency quoted Dehqan as saying.
Underlining “the distinctive features” of the Soumar in its “control and propulsion systems”, he noted, “It enjoys remarkably higher precision and a longer range compared with the previous products.”
Commenting on Qadr and Qiam missiles, he said, “(They) can be used to hit a variety of targets” and are “durable” and “radar-evading.”
