In view of the critical situation in the Middle East, there is a need for increased “convergence” among regional countries to deal with “terrorist threats,” the Primate of the Syriac Maronite Church of Antioch said in a recent meeting with Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Fathali, IRNA reported on Sunday.

Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi also said, “Undoubtedly, an agreement between Iran and the P5+1 countries (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) on Iran’s nuclear program would have a significant effect on the resolution of issues in the region, including Lebanon.”  The ambassador, for his part, briefed the patriarch on the latest developments in the region and the Islamic Republic’s efforts to promote greater convergence among Middle Eastern countries.
