The so-called Islamic State (IS) terrorist group has failed in its efforts to “prevent an alliance” between Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria, an alliance which is feared by the Israeli regime, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Thursday.
“One of the aims of the formation of Daesh (the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) was to prevent an alliance between Iranian, Iraqi, Syrian and Lebanese nations,” Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said, noting, “(The move) has yielded opposite results and it has, instead, caused the alliance to become stronger,” Fars news agency reported.
“The only illegitimate country which is afraid of this unity is the usurping Israel,” Jafari said, adding, “Halting the spread of the Islamic Awakening” was another aim pursued by the establishment of the group.
No country, including the US, dares to carry out threats to do the slightest harm to Iran, and this is one of the achievements of the Islamic Republic, he added.
