The former ambassador to the United Nations commented that a final nuclear deal with the major powers would create a “new atmosphere” for interaction with the world.

“If the nuclear case leads to a final agreement, it will create a new atmosphere for Iran’s interaction with the international community,” Sadeq Kharazi said in a meeting on Iran’s nuclear talks in Tehran on Tuesday, Fars news agency reported.

Kharazi, who also served as ambassador to France from 2002-2006, praised the nuclear negotiating team, saying that the negotiators “saved the country from a crisis.”

On Tehran’s regional role, the veteran diplomat said Iran enjoys “high status” in the Middle East region, noting that it has been able to promote regional stability.  “We should view the realities positively and realistically. Iran is one of the countries that will have something to say in the future.”
