The secretary general of the Resistance Front of the Islamic Revolution said the political group is not going to back former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad if he stands as a candidate in the 2017 presidential election unless he dramatically changes his approach.

Hojatoleslam Morteza Aqa Tehrani made the remarks in an interview with state television on Friday, IRNA reported. On the 2016 parliamentary election, the lawmaker said he hopes the principlists will be able to put aside their differences and promote “convergence” among them, adding that he is optimistic about the meetings that are currently being held among various principlist groups to achieve unity for the Majlis vote.
