The deputy foreign minister warned against any foreign interference in Yemen's internal affairs, saying "disintegration" of the country would be to the detriment of all regional countries.

"Working toward Yemen's disintegration does not benefit any parties in the region," Hossein Amir Abdollahian told IRNA on Friday, adding, "Those seeking to impose and spread a civil war from Aden to the whole country are making a strategic miscalculation." The deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs reiterated Iran's support of "a united and integrated Yemen".

Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi stepped down and fled to the port city of Aden after Houthis' takeover of the presidential palace last month. However, Reuters quoted Hadi as saying on Saturday that he was still president. He is now working to set up a rival power center in Aden with loyal army units and tribes.
