In a meeting in Tehran on Monday, Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian and Lebanese Minister of Education and Higher Education Elias Abu Saab discussed bilateral relations and the latest regional developments, according to a press release issued by the foreign ministry.
Amir Abdollahian said the Islamic Republic is keen to expand relations with the Arab country, adding that Tehran is ready to host the meeting of the joint cooperation committee.
Elsewhere, the foreign ministry official said Iran attaches high importance to stability and peace in Lebanon, so Tehran backs efforts involving all political groups in Lebanon to elect a new president as soon as possible to end the political limbo in the country.
