The Iranian parliament approved Reza Morad Sahraei as the new minister of education.
The Iranian legislators on Tuesday debated the qualifications of Sahraei as the proposed nominee to lead the Ministry of Education.
Sahraei, 47, took office with 167 votes in favor, 86 against, and 14 abstentions, Tasnim News Agency reported.
The former minister, Yousef Nouri, resigned in April after widespread discontent at a delay in the payment of salaries for teachers at the end of the last Persian year in March.
A ministerial nominee needs 50% plus one vote to win the vote of confidence from the parliament.
