Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the holy month of Ramadan can bring the hearts of Muslims closer together, calling on the authorities of Islamic states to use this opportunity to reduce and resolve differences and bring about unity within the Islamic Ummah.
He made the remarks in an address to a group of Iranian authorities and ambassadors of Muslim countries on the occasion of the Eid al-Fitr which celebrates the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
The Leader pointed to the problems of Islamic countries, such as war and conflicts, dependence, poverty and lack of scientific development, saying they can all be overcome through unity.
“If Quran’s order for unity around the divine axis is put into practice, the Muslim world, with a population of over two billion and possession of the world’s most important and sensitive geographical regions, can move in the direction of addressing problems,” he said, Leader.ir reported.
He later underlined the problem of Palestine as the Muslim world’s most fundamental issue, which is not only Islamic, but also humanitarian.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the gradual downfall of the occupying regime of Israel began several years ago and has now sped up, which is a great opportunity that the Muslim world must use.
The Zionist regime’s deterrent power is also fading away, according to the Leader.
“If nothing happens, the end of the occupying regime is near, and this is thanks to the sacrifices of Palestinian youths,” he said.
The Leader stressed that assisting forces inside Palestine is today’s essential strategy for the Muslim world.
“The resistance front … must focus on strengthening fighters inside Palestine.”
An inclination toward Islam is the main reason for the current growth in the Palestinian fighting group’s strength, according to Ayatollah Khamenei.
The enemies’ anti-Islam efforts also result from their understanding of the power of Islam in giving strength to the Palestinian nation, he added.

National Unity

Earlier in the day, Ayatollah Khamenei led Eid al-Fitr prayers in Tehran.
In sermons following the prayers, he offered necessary guidelines of today for the country and the society.
He highlighted coordination and cooperation among the three branches of power as an important approach for the settlement of problems and progress of the country.
“If the legislature, the executive branch and the judiciary cooperate fully, works will never be obstructed,” he said.
The Leader also advised the people and authorities to focus on addressing problems and avoid being engaged in immaterial issues.
Irrelevant controversies surrounding one person or project are not always orchestrated by the enemies, but are sometimes created as a result of ignorance or for other reasons and purposes, according to Ayatollah Khamenei.
“People must disregard them and the authorities should concentrate on important works and solutions without attention to such peripheral issues,” he said.
The Leader later stressed the importance of national unity, saying the solidarity that helped the country pull through difficult times must be preserved and built up.
Along the same line, the enemies’ strategy is provoking disputes and creating divisions among the people over ideas and preferences, he pointed out.
“There is naturally no problem with people’s diverse views about different issues and this must not be a cause for conflict,” he said.
Instead, he said, people must live side by side and be kind together so as to negate the enemies’ efforts to make them cynical about one another and about the authorities.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the enemy’s military policies have failed in the region and they now have resorted to the policy of “hypocrisy, lying, distorting, tempting, disparaging and creating doubts in nations about their capabilities.”
“We must have up-to-date knowledge of such strategies, tactics, tools and methods and nullify them,” he said.
