President Ebrahim Raisi is set to leave Tehran for Beijing on Monday evening at the official invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping for a three-day visit with the aim of bolstering ties.
Heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, Raisi is expected to arrive in Beijing on Tuesday, ISNA reported.
The Iranian president will first attend a private meeting with Xi, followed by talks between the teams of the two presidents and signing ceremonies.
Senior officials from Raisi’s administration, including Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Economy Minister Ehsan Khandouzi, Oil Minister Javad Oji and Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Mohammad Reza Farzin are accompanying the president.
Raisi will also participate in a meeting between Iranian and Chinese economic players and business leaders and also meet with Iranian expatriates.
China is considered Iran’s top trading partner and its main destination for exports. The nations have signed a 25-year deal to cooperate and build partnerships in various sectors.
Xi invited Raisi for a trip to China on the sidelines of a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in September in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Raisi will leave Beijing on Thursday.
