Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei appointed Ahmadreza Radan as commander in chief of the Islamic Republic’s police force on Saturday.
In a decree, published on the Leader’s official website, he advised the new chief commander to work toward satisfying God and contenting the people by protecting their security and ensuring public comfort.
“Upgrading the capabilities of the [law enforcement] organization and protecting the dignity of its staff, as well as training specialized forces for various security sectors, are other important pieces of advice,” he said.
The Leader also called on other state organizations to cooperate with the law enforcement force.
Ayatollah Khamenei also expressed appreciation and satisfaction with the performance of the former commander-in-chief, Hossein Ashtari, whose term ended with the new decree.
Ahmadreza Radan has served as police commander in Kurdestan, Sistan-Baluchestan, Khorasan and Tehran provinces. He was also deputy commander of the country’s police force in 2008-2014 before being appointed as head of the Centre for Strategic Studies of the Iranian Law Enforcement Force where he served until present.
