President Ebrahim Raisi stressed that his administration is committed to fully implement the Constitution.
“We will spare no effort on this road,” the top official was quoted as saying by his website in a national convention on the responsibility of implementing constitutional law on Saturday.
He said that whenever authorities had adhered to the Constitution, efficiency had followed and the opposite had happened whenever the law was neglected.
“The Constitution is built on principles and values such as republicanism, Islamism, independence and liberty which are unwavering,” he said.
The official added, “However, the methods and the mechanisms of exercising the Constitution are certainly changeable and improvable.”
The president noted that when necessary, those mechanisms could be subject to revision.
“The Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been drafted in a way that it faces no dead ends in the management of national affairs,” Raisi said.
According to him, the implementation of the Constitution falls under the jurisdiction of the president and that he was dedicated to upholding the rights of different groups of people and ethnicities.
The top official pointed to the many elections held across Iran since the Islamic Revolution and that it was hailed as the “nation of elections.”
Raisi stated that it was surprising that countries claiming to stand for democracy and human rights would impose devastating sanctions on Iran, a country run by legal elections rooted in its Constitution.
He noted that respecting the law was vital to justice and added, “No one, in no position, is allowed to violate constitutional law.”
