President Ebrahim Raisi underlined the necessity of a strong resolve to eliminate obstacles in the way of promotion of Iran-Belarus bilateral ties.
In a meeting with the Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko in Tehran on Wednesday, the top official said that Iran and Belarus have enormous potential to expand relations, he was quoted as saying by President.ir.
“One of the effective ways to neutralize sanctions is the expansion and promotion of ties among states that are under sanctions for attempting to preserve independence,” he said.
During the meeting, the Belarusian official stated that Tehran’s new foreign policy to strengthen ties with regional nations has opened up a new horizon in Tehran-Misk relations.
Noting that the two states have always enjoyed a friendly relationship, Golovchenko added, “Today, we’re at the height of political collaborations. It’s time to boost economic ties.”
According to the official, his trip was made at the instruction of President Alexander Lukashenko who is seeking to expedite the implementation of agreements reached in his meeting with Raisi.
Raisi met Lukashenko in September during his visit to Uzbekistan.
Golovchenko pointed to the threefold surge in trade between Tehran and Minsk and stated, “We have carefully established a roadmap to increase cooperation and boost ties.”
He added that the history of relations between the two states were meticulously examined on the order of the Belarusian president to formulate the plan.
Golovchenko arrived in Tehran on Tuesday noon and received the official and warm welcome of First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber at the Saadabad Historical Complex.
Mokhber later informed the press that high-ranking officials from both nations were formulating a roadmap for 2023-2026 to increase trade in all sectors.
The policy is part of the administration’s agenda to counter cruel sanctions imposed on Iran by uniting with other nations in similar circumstances.
