The air pollution emergency workgroups of Tehran and Alborz Provinces announced that all school levels will be held on-line on Wednesday due to poor air quality, except for Tehran’s three counties of Firouzkouh, Damavand and Pardis.
Residents of these areas are also advised against outdoor sport activity while the sale of permits for entering special low-emission zones by Tehran Municipality is forbidden until Thursday, when the air stability is expected to continue, IRNA reported.
Tehran’s Deputy Governor General Abed Maleki called on the people to avoid unnecessary city trips and use appropriate N95 masks in case of emergency.
The capital’s air quality index has stood at orange level alert since Monday, which is unhealthy for sensitive groups.
Tehran has only experienced two clean days since the start of the current calendar year.
