Tehran, Moscow, Beijing to Create New Great Power

The president said participation in the SCO is a good basis for communication between Iran and other member countries, and this capacity will definitely be used to strengthen the economy of Iran and the SCO

Cooperation between Iran, Russia and China will help create a new power that will oppose the unipolar world order, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said in an interview with China’s CGTN broadcaster.
“People around the world have bad memories of the era which has come to an end. It was a time of hegemony, unipolar world order and violations of the legitimate rights of many nations,” the Iranian president pointed out.
“A new era will be marked by the establishment of a multipolar world order, he said, stressing that cooperation between Iran, Russia, China, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union and the Economic Cooperation Organization may lead to the creation of a new power.” He emphasized that SCO member states accounted for a large part of the global economy’s potential.
“SCO membership creates good opportunities for the development of ties between Iran and other members of the organization,” Raisi noted.
On September 30, the Iranian president signed a bill to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
He said, “In my opinion, participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation is a good basis for communication between Iran and other member countries, and this capacity will definitely be used to strengthen and grow the economy of Iran and the SCO.”

New Tactic

On Iran’s relations with regional countries, Raisi said, “This cooperation can neutralize many of the threats and sanctions. Until yesterday, the Americans followed the imposition of their intentions on other countries through military ways, but today sanctions are a tactic to threaten countries and governments.”
“Today, the same military campaign has turned into sanctions. In fact, sanctions are a war against nations, but the relations between sanctioned countries can weaken American sanctions. The connection between Iran, China and Russia and other countries that are being sanctioned by the US can cause the sanctions to be neutralized.”
Raisi said, “Despite the sanctions, we have made great progress in the country. The Americans did not think that such progress would be achieved by the Islamic Republic, but we are determined to advance the country despite the sanctions in all areas, and we are sure that with firm will and interaction with our friends in the region, such as China and the countries of Central Asia, we will completely neutralize these sanctions.”
Responding to a question on the main obstacle to restoring the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, he said, “We want a good and fair deal. Americans must decide to live up to their commitments.”
“We think that if the Americans fulfil their commitments, lift the sanctions and give the necessary guarantees to Iran so that they do not backtrack on their commitments by violating the JCPOA, it is possible to reach a good agreement,” he said.
The president noted, “This is not a new agreement, it is the JCPOA, but there were two problems in the JCPOA. One is that the Americans left and the second is that the Europeans did not fulfil their commitment. If the Americans and the Europeans fulfil their commitment, I think there is scope for a good agreement.”
On the relations with China, the president said, “I think that our friend China has taken great steps toward economic growth during the administration of Mr. Xi Jinping, and his measures have also created a good foundation for the relations between the countries of the region.”
“In terms of improving the relations between Iran and China, during his administration and with the meeting we had with the president of China, the ground for better cooperation has been provided and a turning point has been created.”
Raisi said, “Our relations with China are very old and strategic. We signed a 25-year comprehensive cooperation program with China. Some people may be upset with this, but that’s okay, because we are determined to seriously implement the comprehensive cooperation plan between Iran and China.”
