Backing Yemen’s Territorial Integrity

The foreign ministry spokesperson said Iran supports Yemen's territorial integrity.
In a press briefing on Wednesday, Marzieh Afkham referred to the recent developments in Yemen and the closure of many embassies in the crisis-hit country reportedly due to security concerns and said, "We back Yemen's territorial integrity and national sovereignty and a political solution (to the crisis)."
"We believe that a political solution should be employed to fill the political vacuum in the country," IRNA quoted her as saying.
Afkham went on to say that Iran welcomes national dialogue involving all political factions and groups in the Arab country.
She said Iran is prepared to help Yemen find an inclusive political solution, expressing hope that regional and international organizations would help work out a political solution free from pressure campaigns and political motivations.
Touching on relations with Saudi Arabia, the foreign ministry official asserted that Tehran-Riyadh relations are normal, explaining, "Our relations with Saudi Arabia, like ours with other neighbors, are at ambassadorial level, but Iran wants best ties with the neighboring states and welcomes promotion of bilateral interactions."
She stated, "We hope to benefit from the capacities in Iran and Saudi Arabia not only on bilateral issues but in addressing regional challenges."
Afkham said cooperation between major regional states is a viable option which can guarantee a brighter future for the region, adding that there is no other way to find solutions to regional crises but dialogue.
