Gov’t Must Fulfill Pledges to Preserve Public’s Trust

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called on the government to deliver on its promises and avoid making unattainable pledges so as not to destroy people’s hard-earned trust.
In a meeting with President Ebrahim Raisi and other Cabinet members on Tuesday, he said revitalizing people’s hope and trust has been the greatest achievement of the current administration.
“People see that the government is working actively to serve them and address their problems and this has revived their hope and trust to a great extent,” he said, Leader.ir reported.
The Leader called Raisi’s administration “responsible”, highlighting the fact that it never evaded responsibility on the grounds of lacking authority over its one-year period.
He appreciated the government’s provincial visits, including to remote and underprivileged regions, and its close monitoring of their situation and deep empathy with the people.
This administration has also had a good record of involving young people in executive affairs, according to Ayatollah Khamenei.
“Young managers and authorities make mistakes at times, but infusing a spirit of youth into the government is worth the tolerance of their errors and gradually rectifying them,” he said.
Directing focus on domestic capabilities instead of making the country’s affairs conditional on foreign developments is among other laudable approaches adopted by this government, the Leader said.
Among other praiseworthy efforts of this administration over the past year was its good foreign policy, search for justice, support of underprivileged people, avoiding luxury and opposition to arrogance, according to Ayatollah Khamenei.
He called on Raisi’s government to carry on with the same method of operation to attain more success.

Public Participation

The Leader later advised the statesmen to publicize their efforts so as to raise hope in the people.
“Continue going among the people and be patient and tolerant when facing them,” he said, adding that careful planning is also needed to use people’s views and prepare the ground for their participation in various sectors, including political and economic.
The executive branch of power should move on with a comprehensive plan which can be explained to the public, according to the Leader.
It is also important to sort out the priorities, he said.
“The power and capabilities of the government are limited, so key sectors must be identified and then prioritized along with their subcategories.”
In the present situation, the top priority is still economy, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed.
“Although other sectors such as science, security, social problems and culture should not be neglected, the main priority must still be economy,” he said.
The Leader called on economic managers to focus constantly and precisely on primary indices such as inflation, economic growth, the growth of investment, employment and per capita income, and narrowing the social gap.
He highlighted “production” as the main parameter in a country’s economic development, urging the government to stand against any factor which would weaken this sector.
Stressing the importance of food security, given the crisis arising from the Ukraine war, he also called for more attention to agricultural production and self-sufficiency in basic goods.
“Food security is a number-one priority which must not be neglected.”
The Leader instructed banks to provide the required fund for manufacturing unites to address the lack of working capital and help boost industrial production.
He later notified the statesmen of the dire shortage in housing which has caused a spike in rental prices and has troubled people.
“Don’t let the massive natural and human capacities of the country be wasted and avoid abandoning projects halfway through,” he said.
If these bits of advice are followed, this government will prove to be an active and efficient one which is able to address the problems in people’s lives, the Leader concluded.
