Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says Islam has instructed Muslims to treat followers of other religions with "fairness and justice."
"What is seen in the world today is that powers and governments which claim to (advocate) fairness and justice do not observe any fairness and justice except within the bounds of their narrow, limited and cruel policies," Press TV on Monday quoted Ayatollah Khamenei as saying in a recent meeting with representatives of religious minorities at parliament.
The Leader pointed to the propaganda campaign against Muslims in Europe and the US and said, "What is at issue is not (the question) why Muslims do not have the necessary freedom in most of these countries, but at issue is (the question) why Muslims do not have any (sense of) physical safety."
Ayatollah Khamenei cited the Hollywood-made film "American Sniper" as an example and said it encourages Christian or non-Muslim youths to harass Muslims as much as possible. Islam does not accept this approach, the Leader said, adding, "Islam believes in fairness."
The Leader said young neo-Nazis have on several occasions beaten up and killed Muslims and damaged mosques with impunity.
Ayatollah Khamenei cited the instance of young Arab Muslim girls who have been beaten up or even killed because of their hijab (the Islamic dress code) and nobody even bothered to investigate the issue.
Similar cases also exist in other countries which claim to defend human rights, including the United States, he stated. In addition, the Leader said after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, there has been no record of aggression by Muslims against non-Muslims in Iran.
