President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in Tehran on Sunday at the head of a top-level politico-economic delegation for an official visit at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart.
The Tajik leader, who was received by Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian at Mehrabad International Airport, is scheduled to attend a formal reception ceremony hosted by President Ebrahim Raisi.
Holding talks with top Iranian officials, co-chairing a meeting of the two sides’ high-level delegations, overseeing the signing of several political, economic, scientific and cultural agreements, and attending a joint press conference with the Iranian president are on the agenda of the Tajik president’s two-day visit, ISNA reported.
In a meeting with Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister Mozaffar Hosseinzadeh in Tehran on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian underlined the significance of the visit by the Tajik president, expressing hope that the trip would provide a major impetus for promotion of relations between the two nations, which share many cultural values and historical bonds.
“Such huge potential clears the way for expansion of ties between the two brotherly and friendly nations,” the top Iranian diplomat noted.
The Tajik deputy foreign minister highlighted the importance of bilateral ties in various areas and declared Tajikistan’s readiness to develop ties with Iran.
