In a press release on Sunday, the foreign ministry spokesperson denied the report by the Wall Street Journal on Friday that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has recently written to US President Barack Obama in response to a letter sent in October, describing the move as an “unprofessional media gambit.” Marzieh Afkham also said the US president has a record of sending letters to Iran, adding that in some cases the letters have been responded to, but there has been “no new letter”.
