Covid Death Toll in Iran Surpasses 139,000

The death toll from the Covid-19 pandemic in Iran has exceeded 139,000, the Health Ministry said.
Figures released by the ministry on Monday show that the coronavirus has taken the lives of 114 patients over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll since the outbreak of the pandemic in February 2020 to 139,063.
According to the statistics, 3,813 new cases of Covid-19 infection have been reported across the country over the past 24 hours, with 665 of them hospitalized.
More than 6.78 million individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 7,126,900 who have contracted the disease, the ministry added.
Some 2,871 victims of Covid-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.
The ministry also said over 63.58 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 56.24 million have received the second dosage, and more than 25.2 million have gotten the booster shots.
The number of people infected with Covid-19 across the world has surpassed 458 million and the death toll has exceeded 6.06 million.
