No Iranian Arrested in Syria

An informed source at the foreign ministry denied the report that 30 Iranian officers and soldiers have been arrested in the Syrian city of Daraa by militants of the so-called Islamic State (IS) terrorist group.   “The news about the arrest of Iranians in Syria is not true,” the source told ISNA on Sunday.  Iran has announced that it has no soldiers on the ground in Syria and that it has only sent military advisers to the crisis-hit Arab country to help it deal with terrorists.
