Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussain was set to travel to Tehran on Wednesday evening for a two-day visit to hold discussions about a range of subjects with high-ranking Iranian officials.
He is scheduled to meet with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and President Ebrahim Raisi, among other top authorities, according to ISNA.
The discussions are expected to revolve around the latest developments in bilateral ties, as well as regional and international issues.
This is Hussein’s first meeting with officials of the new Iranian administration in Tehran, which took office in August.
With 1.6 km of shared border, Iran and Iraq are close trade partners with an economic exchange of around $8 billion a year.
