Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday named the new members of the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution for the next four years.
Prominent appointees include Gholamali Haddad-Adel, a member of the Expediency Council, Ali Larijani, former parliament speaker and religious researcher Hassan Rahimpour Azghadi, Leader.ir reported.
The three heads of government, parliament and judiciary are also as always key members of the council.
The non-governmental council is responsible for making decisions that shape the national culture according to views supported by the Islamic Revolution.
In a decree published on his website, Ayatollah Khamenei underscored the role of culture in “directing all major actions” and as the cornerstone of societal affairs.
“Culture, across its varied sectors, requires revolutionary discipline and content,” the statement read.
“This is the only tool for protecting the general culture of the country against premeditated cultural and media invasion by malignant aliens,” it added.
The Leader noted that it is the council’s mission to put forward policies that can organize the state of culture and knowledge throughout the nation.
According to Ayatollah Khamenei, building the national culture is the best approach for making advancements in Iran and it makes using force unnecessary.
The top official concluded by thanking all former members of the council and hoped they would continue to serve the country in a consulting capacity.
Among the members for the new four-year term are Saeed Reza Ameli, head of the Faculty of World Studies at the University of Tehran and scholar Ahmad Vaezi.
