Greetings to the Philippines

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani congratulated the Philippines on its Independence Day, hoping for a new chapter in the bilateral relations between Tehran and Manila with the promotion of regional and international cooperation.
In a letter to his Filipino counterpart Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday, Rouhani congratulated the Philippines on the anniversary of gaining independence from Spain, President.ir reported.
Highlighting the historical background of relations between Iran and the Philippines and their potential capacities, Rouhani expressed hope that two Asian nations would enhance the bilateral, regional and international cooperation and mark a new chapter in the bilateral ties.  
He also wished the Philippines prosperity and success.
Iran and the Philippines started bilateral relations in 1974.
In recent years, the two governments have ramped up efforts to enhance the political, economic and cultural ties.
