Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Yukiya Amano discussed Tehran’s nuclear program, among other topics, in a meeting on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, TASS reported.
“Russia has underscored that the IAEA is due to play a key role in carrying out inspections within the framework of a possible future agreement on a final and overwhelming settlement of Iran’s nuclear program,” the ministry said.
“For maintaining the IAEA’s operation sustainable, it will be of upmost importance that these inspections should be based on generally acknowledged practice of the agency’s application of safeguards.”
