Call for Enhanced Tehran-Bern Ties

President Hassan Rouhani said Tehran and Bern can boost bilateral cooperation to an appropriate level through increased activities by the economic and financial committees formed by the two countries.
Rouhani made the remarks in a phone call with President of the Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin on Tuesday, President.ir reported. 
He said Iran and Switzerland have drawn up a roadmap in various political, cultural and economic fields such as transportation, health, agriculture, science and technology and succeeded in maintaining an acceptable level of relations despite US sanctions.
Rouhani stressed the importance of making necessary measures to effectively activate financial transactions through a Swiss humanitarian channel and implement the agreements which have been suspended due to hostile policies of the former US administration.
The Swiss president expressed his country’s readiness to help all signatories to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal return to full compliance with their commitments under the agreement given a new opportunity provided by the current international situation.
Parmelin added that Bern is keen to enhance cooperation with Tehran and would make all-out efforts in this regard.
