Araqchi, who was in Doha at the head of a delegation, held separate meetings with Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Khalid Al Attiyah, a statement posted on the Foreign Ministry’s website said.
In the meetings on Wednesday, the two sides conferred on latest developments in the Persian Gulf region and the prevailing threats, according to the statement.
They also exchanged views on bilateral relations and ways to expand mutual ties between Tehran and Doha.
The visit came one day after Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Qatari counterpart discussed the latest bilateral issues and regional developments in a telephone conversation.
Last week, the Qatari foreign minister said dialogue between Iran and Persian Gulf Arab states would contribute to peace and stability in the region, stressing that security issues in the region are a “priority” for Qatar.
