The Joint Commission of Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal is slated to hold a meeting in Vienna Austria, on Dec. 16 at the level of deputy ministers and political directors.
The session, chaired on behalf of European Union High Representative Josep Borrell by Secretary-General of European External Action Service Helga Schmid, will be attended by the representatives of Iran, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, China and Russia, according to the official website of EEAS.
The nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, was signed between Iran and six world powers, but the United States pulled out in 2018 and reimposed sanctions on Tehran. The remaining parties have been making efforts to preserve the deal since then.
Participants will discuss measures underway to preserve JCPOA and how to ensure the full and effective implementation of the agreement by all sides, including preparation for a ministerial level meeting.
The commission last convened on Sept. 1 at this level. The latest ministerial meeting took place in New York on Sept. 25, 2019.
