The deputy foreign minister for parliamentary affairs said the foreign ministry and the Majlis have “close interaction” on foreign policy issues, including the talks with the major powers on Tehran’s nuclear program, ICANA reported. Hassan Qashqavi said some nuclear negotiators hold regular meetings with parliamentarians to brief them on the latest developments in the negotiations. On a possible joint meeting between the foreign ministry and the Majlis on US lawmakers’ efforts to impose new nuclear-related sanctions on Iran , Qashqavi said the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee should make a decision about any parliamentary meeting on the ongoing discussions on new sanctions at the US Congress. In addition, he said the previous joint meetings have been helpful in easing MPs’ concerns over foreign policy issues.
