The latest developments in Saudi Arabia and Yemen and the recent visit of a German parliamentary delegation were discussed in a meeting of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy meeting on Sunday, ISNA reported.
Officials at the foreign ministry, the intelligence ministry and the Majlis Protocol Office were present at the session to provide the necessary explanations.
Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of the committee, said it is the policy of the Islamic Republic to promote relations, particularly parliamentary ties, with European countries, but meetings should be held “within the framework of dignity, wisdom and expediency.”
He pointed to the German delegation’s visit and said the relevant bodies should make the required arrangements to prevent any departure from diplomatic norms in such visits. Claudia Roth, a vice president of the German parliament Bundestag, talked about the incidents which occurred after the 2009 presidential election in her meeting with former vice president Mohamad Reza Aref last week.
