Iran’s daily confirmed coronavirus cases climbed by 2,819 on Friday, the highest single-day rise since April 2.
Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said the country has added 2,819 to its caseload, taking the national total to 146,668, ISNA reported.
According to Jahanpour, some 547 were hospitalized and the rest only displayed mild symptoms and were in contact with a patient suffering from the coronavirus disease, Covid-19.
The health official said, “Unfortunately, 50 people lost their lives during the past 24 hours.”
The new fatalities bring the death toll to 7,677.
So far, 114,931 have recovered and left intensive care units. Some 2,500 are in serious condition.
Iran has carried out more than 896,000 diagnostic tests.
Jahanpour said, “In the past 24 hours, 15 provinces reported no fatalities and five provinces registered only one each.”
The health official pointed out that the southwestern province of Khuzestan is still in a state of emergency and the conditions of eight provinces are alarming.
Jahanpour advised the public to install the Mask application to get the latest updates on the pandemic in their area and avoid going to places with high transmission rates.
