With 51 overnight deaths, the tally of fatalities from the novel coronavirus reached 7,300, a health official announced.
Daily deaths from the outbreak dropped on Friday but infections rose again to 2,392, taking the national total to 131,652, Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour was quoted as saying by ISNA.
“Out of the new infections, 413 were hospitalized and 1,898 exhibited mild symptoms or were in close contact with a patient,” he said.
The Health Ministry’s spokesman noted out that although the number of confirmed patients has been on the rise in the past couple of days, hospitalizations are declining.
While 14 provinces reported no deaths from the infections disease and only six registered one fatality each, the southwestern province of Khuzestan remains in a state of emergency.
Over 102,000 have recovered from Covid-19, the illness caused by the virus. Nearly 2,700 are in critical condition.
Close to 764,000 diagnostic tests have been conducted to identify coronavirus patients across the country.
Jahanpour again called for public cooperation during these trying times and asked people to respect social distancing measures, observe protocols issued by health authorities and refrain from nonessential travels to help maintain the country’s success in containing the pandemic.
