Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif left Tehran on Sunday at the head of a high-ranking political and economic delegation for a four-day tour of Africa, Fars news agency reported.
The senior diplomat is scheduled to visit Kenya, Burundi, Uganda and Tanzania and meet with high-ranking officials there as part of efforts by President Hassan Rouhani administration’s efforts to promote trade and political ties with African nations. Kenya will be the first destination for Zarif’s African tour.
The government has announced that it sees expansion of ties with African countries as a top priority.
