Rouhani Highlights Scientific Achievements

President Hassan Rouhani underlined Iran's scientific and technological advancements as a great honor for the country since the foundation of the Islamic Republic. 
"Compared to 41 years ago, the society's development in terms of the number of students, scientific and research centers … is constantly gaining speed," he said, during the closing ceremony of the 33rd Khwarizmi International Award for research on Monday, President.ir reported. 
He mentioned a number of achievements in science and technology, including the improvement in the country’s International Innovation Index from 120 to 65. 
"By the end of 1397 [March 20, 2019] and through 1398 [ending March 19], we became self-sufficient in producing €1.2 billion worth of industrial parts that we formerly imported," he said. 
Rouhani noted that knowledge-based companies have created 300,000 jobs over the past six years and employed over 40,000 university graduates, including those graduated from the world's leading educational institutes. 
The president presented the Khwarizmi festival's awards to winners. The international award honors individuals who have made outstanding achievements in research, innovation and invention, in scientific and technological fields.
