The reformists have no intention to turn their back on the upcoming parliamentary elections and will definitely field candidates, a lawmaker said.
"Reformists, from top to bottom, intend to take part in the elections," Mohammad Kazemi also told ICANA.
The Guardians Council, which is in charge of vetting candidates, has recently declared a large number of reformist lawmakers ineligible to run for the elections, prompting the government and the reformist bloc to ask the council to reconsider its decisions.
Kazemi called on the constitutional body to allow people to have diverse options to choose from, especially since public participation is essential under the current circumstances where the country is facing foreign pressure.
"People's presence at the ballot is necessary to preserve the country's status and authority," he said.
The Majlis elections are scheduled for Feb. 21.
