A Turkish military CASA CN-235 cargo plane on Wednesday afternoon crashed in the southern Anatolian province of Isparta while on training exercises, killing three Turkish crew members. Turkish Armed Forces confirmed in a statement that two pilots and one technician were on the aircraft and all the three were killed in the crash near Egirdir Lake, Xinhua reported. Radar connection was lost with the plane around 12:50 local time (0950 GMT), and rescue teams reached the plane’s wreck about 1.5 hours later, the statement said. This is the fourth CASA CN-235 plane crash in the history of the Turkish Armed Forces, which is currently the largest operator of the aircraft with 59 in service for the army, navy and air force. Isparta Governer Sehmus Gunaydin said the cause of the crash is still unknown but noted that weather conditions were foggy during the flight.
