More than 15 people have been killed in a coordinated bombing in Syria’s capital Damascus, according to several sources. A car bomb went off near a police station in Damascus’s al-Midan neighborhood on Monday, shortly before two suicide bombers detonated their explosive belts, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, Al Jazeera reported. The 15 dead included police officers and civilians, the SOHR said, adding that the attack also caused injuries. Syrian state TV blamed two suicide bombers for a “terrorist explosion” in al-Midan area while the pro-Syrian Al Mayadeen TV channel said four fighters carried out the attack, killing more than 15 people. The Syrian interior ministry also reported the attack, saying two suicide bombers had blown themselves up, killing civilians and police officers. It gave no precise toll.
