Units of the Syrian Armed Forces and volunteer guards on Tuesday attacked the strongholds of terrorist groups to the north of the city of Homs, 165 km from Damascus, Al Watan newspaper said in a report on its homepage. Artillery of the government forces attacked the sites in the populated localities of Al Mahatta where terrorists affiliated with Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) had amassed their manpower, TASS news agency reported. Al Watan said eight al-Nusra field commanders had been eliminated among other terrorists. The Syrian Army artillery fired at the positions of al-Nusra and its allies held in Eth-Teybe, Kafr Laha, Taldou, Qarmus and Maryamin. Syrian Air Force also attacked the positions of the self-styled Islamic State terrorist group on the approaches to the ancient city of Palmyra, which is located some 240 km from Damascus. IS and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham terrorist groups are not included in the current ceasefire in Syria.
