The world is on high alert, as armed security forces patrol Christmas markets after four atrocities left 15 dead in one day.

Ankara, Berlin and Zurich have all been targeted in a series of terrifying incidents that have claimed the lives of at least 15 people.

The threat level in London remains at “severe”, meaning an attack is considered highly likely, the Metropolitan Police said on Tuesday, Reuters reported.

The US federal authorities also cautioned local law enforcement on Friday to be aware that supporters of the self-styled Islamic State terrorist group have been calling on their sympathizers to attack holiday gatherings in the United States, including churches, a law enforcement official said.
