A Molotov cocktail hurled at a Cairo restaurant killed 12 people and wounded six on Friday, Egyptian security officials said. One of the officials said the attacker was an employee who had been fired from the restaurant in the Agouza area in the center of the Egyptian capital, Reuters reported. Security officials earlier said 18 people died. The restaurant was in the basement of the building, making it harder for people to escape. The victims died from burns or the effects of inhaling smoke, it said. At least five other people were injured. Cairo has previously been rocked by a series of attacks on security forces and civilians carried out by suspected militants.
