US Air Force General Charles Brown, commander of the US Air Forces Central Command, said on Tuesday he was impressed with the work the Saudi-led coalition is doing in Yemen.

Brown said the US Air Force has been working together with Saudi forces on training, and he was impressed with their air operations.

“We’re both of the same mindset,” Reuters reported him as saying.

Saudi Arabia began its aggression against Yemen in a bid to undermine the advancing ruling Houthi movement and restore power to fugitive president Abd-Rabboh Mansour Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

The kingdom’s military action in Yemen, which lacks any international mandate, has enjoyed covert support from the US as reports have confirmed that Pentagon shares intelligence with Riyadh enabling the kingdom’s fighter jets to pound the positions of Yemen’s Houthis and the allied groups.

US President Barack Obama authorized the provision of logistical and intelligence support to Saudi-led military operations in Yemen since the beginning of the Saudi-led war campaign at March 25.

US officials have often emphasized that aiding partner countries in their intervention into Yemen is simply “providing enabling support”.

Saudi Arabia continues for the seventh successive month with its air attacks on civilian targets in Yemen. The Saudi aggression has claimed the lives of more than 7,100 people and displaced more than a million so far.
