Sri Lankans went to the polls in a general election on Monday with former president Mahinda Rajapaksa hoping to return to office as prime minister. He lost the presidency to his former health minister Maithripala Sirisena. Fifteen million people are eligible to vote, with results expected on Tuesday, BBC reported.
