Pentagon Chief in Iraq

US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter arrived on an unannounced visit on Friday to Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan region. He was expected to meet the Kurdistan region’s President Massoud Barzani as well as US forces. Carter’s visit to Erbil came a day after he traveled to Baghdad to meet Iraqi leaders as they advanced plans to recapture Ramadi, Reuters reported.
