Sarkozy Renames French Opposition

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy changed his party’s name on Friday from Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) to The Republicans. The rebranding is seen as a springboard for Sarkozy’s 2017 presidential election bid. Eighty-three percent of the party’s more than 210,000 members backed the name change, BBC reported.
