Yemen’s Shiite Houthi group on Tuesday released three leading members of the Muslim Brotherhood-linked Islah Party, two weeks after Houthi members abducted them in capital Sanaa.

The Houthis released the three men – Anwar al-Hamairi, Ali al-Hadma and Habib al-Oreiqi – from a Houthi-controlled prison facility in Sanaa, a party source told World Bulletin.

The Shiite group abducted the trio two weeks ago from a party office in the capital.

At the time, the Houthis had claimed they had uncovered “a terrorist cell led by Habib al-Oreiqi.”

Yemen has remained in a state of chaos since last September, when the Houthis took over Sanaa, from which they have since sought to extend their control to other parts of the country.
