The dust particles, which covered the skies of southwest Alborz Province on Sunday, would persist for a couple of days, according to weather forecasts. "Due to the recent high-speed winds sweeping the province and the growth of dust storm hotspots, the haze reaching the province is predicted to remain in the sky in the next two days," Mansour Rahmanian, head of the provincial Meteorological Organization, said on Sunday. Pointing to the fact that the source of the dust is inside the province, Rahmanian explained that "the decrease in precipitation [28% less than the last water year] has turned the province into a source of dust storm," IRNA quoted him as saying. Reportedly, Alborz has experienced a low number of days with poor air quality during the current summer.
