The density of dust particles in various areas of Sistan, north of Sistan-Baluchestan Province, was more than 20 times more than the acceptable level on Friday.
According to Morteza Faraji, an expert at the provincial meteorological organization, the concentration of ultrafine particulate matter "reached 3,023 micrograms per cubic meter in the area while the standard healthy level is determined at 150µg/cm."
At 500 µg/cm, the conditions are described as critical but it was six times worse than the level on Friday in the Sistan region which includes the cities of Zabol, Zahak, Hamoun, Hirmand and Nimrouz. "The maximum wind speed was 104 kilometers per hour … visibility decreased to less than 50 meters at certain hours in Zahak," Faraji said.
