During the Iranian New Year holidays when urban traffic declines, the average noise level in Tehran fell by 2 decibels.
The average level measured by the noise assessment stations of Tehran's Air Quality Control Company in the last two weeks of the previous year (March 6-20) was 70.10 dB that dropped to 68.57 dB at the beginning of the holidays (March 21-April 2), AQCC's website reported.
Noise pollution has taken lower priority than other types of pollution, as its health impacts are not detectable immediately.
