An Iranian inventor has developed a drip irrigation system capable of significantly reducing farming water use. Daniel Alamidoost said irrigation methods used in farms across Iran are inefficient, adding that his “supplementary irrigation system will help reduce water loss by up to 40%,” Mehr News Agency quoted him as saying. The system comprises a water container and a buoy, with a control device capable of adjusting the height of the buoy. “The user can adjust the amount of water needed for irrigation per season, ensuring minimum water loss,” he said. Iran’s wasteful farming irrigation systems have been often criticized, so the development of an efficient watering system is welcome news for a country battling with unprecedented drought.
